On Tuesday, January 24 the West San Antonio Chamber of Commerce held its Bi-Annual Installation of Officers Breakfast at the beautiful Progreso Hall in the heart of San Antonio’s Western Sector.
The list of board members includes new Chairman Gabe Farias, owner of the public relations and marketing firm the PRMP Group of Texas and Vice Chairman John Leal, Government Relations Manager at CPS Energy.
The list also includes Teresita Aguilar from Our lady of the Lake University, Grace Rodriguez-Elliot from Broadway Bank, Jorge Beltran from Earl & Associates and Rita Hernandez from Inspiration 4 Life Radio.
“This is a wonderfully charged group of individuals from wide and diverse areas of the business sector who will no doubt work hard to make sure the West San Antonio Chamber of Commerce will continue to thrive,” states Farias.
The Installation event featured speeches from outgoing Chairman Doug Vair who has held the post since January of 2010, 225th District Court Judge Peter Sakai who installed the officers and State Representative Joe Farias who gave the Chairman’s introduction.
Chairman Farias spoke of the new direction of the organization with a completely new and dynamic board of chamber policy makers. He spoke of creating long lasting partnerships with area organizations like the Westside Development Corporation and the Hispanic Chamber. Both organizations were well represented with WDC lead Ray Flores and several of the Embajadores from the Hispanic Chamber in attendance at the Installation event.
The new board joins Executive Director Crystal Vargas who will also serve on the board as Secretary in comprising the new face of the organization that covers the greater Western Sector of San Antonio.
“To say I am excited about this new slate of leaders serving this hard working and proud organization is an understatement,” states Vargas. “These men and women from all walks of the business community will no doubt serve this organization proud and with diligence.”
The Chamber has many events on the horizon including its first Annual Health and Wellness Fair to be held on Saturday March 3 at Our Lady of the Lake University, the State of the District featuring the last address by retiring Congressman Charles Gonzalez in late March and the 2nd Annual Golf Classic to be held in early June.
